The Civil Engineer and Architect’s Journal was started by British surveyor and author William Laxton in 1837. The first volume was published in London in 1838 reviewing the annual progress of civil engineering and architecture as professions. Volumes included articles, reviews, illustrations, diagrams, and plans. Publication ceased in 1868.
