AMANDA PAIGE MARTOCCHIO, AIA (1962-)

Martocchio grew up in Fort Collins CO, the daughter of a CSU philosophy professor and an ESL elementary school teacher.  The family moved to Munich, Germany, for an academic sabbatical then later a summer in Princeton NJ.  There she attended a high school summer program at Parsons School of Design where she was smitten by architecture.  She graduated in 1980 from Fort Collins HS.

She went to Cornell and studied art history, but the lure of the Cornell Architecture building prompted a transfer to their BA program, graduating in 1986.  After Cornell, and a stint as TA at the Syracuse University Florence Architecture program 1986-1987 and a year working at Superstudio in Florence. Martocchio returned to the US, to pursue her Masters at Harvard’s GSD in 1990.  After working on large scale projects at HLW and James Polshek, she established Amanda Martocchio Architecture in 2004 in New Canaan CT.  She has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Hartford and contributed as an architectural advisor on civic projects including the New Canaan Library building and Saint Luke’s School expansion. In 2023, she received the AIA Connecticut Women in Architecture Award.
