Mid-century
architect and designer
Eliot Noyes built the design programs for some of America's most powerful postwar corporations
like IBM and Mobil. The
Jason Cohn film weaves the architect's story with corporate America's embrace of Modernism during
1950's economic expansion and culminates in the backlash against Noyes during the countercultural upheaval of the
1960's.
As a pioneer of the Harvard Five, Noyes transformed American culture by proving that "Good Design is Good Business." This film offers a rare opportunity to discover the breakthrough philosophy of a true design visionary. Enjoy an evening of sophisticated dialogue and historical insight as we honor his enduring influence on modern living.
The film is followed by a discussion featuring Fred Noyes, architect and son of Eliot Noyes,
and
Gordon Bruce, author of Eliot Noyes: A Pioneer of
Design and Architecture.

One thing I am not going to become is a guy who is called in to change the expression on the corporate face by hanging abstract paintings on the office walls.
