HUGHESTON MEADOWS
SUBDIVISION, WHITTIER CA
Marketed as the Forever House, each of the 136 homes was precision-engineered of steel, aluminum, glass and masonry and without wood, making them resistant to termite, fire, earthquake, and deterioration. Soon to be Vice President Richard M. Nixon visited in 1953. however, people of color were barred from owning or renting until the 1960's. Designed with Frederick Emmons, right photo.
